I asked her a simple question about percentages – something like “What's 10% of 90?” and she didn't have a clue. Because when I went to college the first time, I did not enjoy calculus. Being on the edge of a wave, being out there and potentially falling and getting crunched In that moment, you have to figure it out -- it's kind of like a life or death situation. In fact I hated, hated, hated it. Calculus was a college thing, and not even first-year course. I am so incredibly grateful that I get to learn calculus. That sounds dramatic and over-exaggerated, but calculus has taken my lukewarm "like" for math to an absolute love! I've just found that I don't really enjoy calculus, I don't have any particular trouble understanding it, but I have not been able to make myself put the work into mastering it that I should have. Calculus meant you were going to graduate school for something, like physics. For twenty years I believed that I hated calculus. If I told my Calculus teacher that Calculus was my favorite class, she would be shocked. Personally, I think anything whole grain interferes with the taste of the tomato, but I don't like white loaf bread, so I usually buy some white flour bakery bread such as French or Italian or even make my own.
